This WotLK Classic Cooking leveling guide will show you the fastest way to level your Cooking skill up from 1 to 450 in Wrath of the Lich King Crusade Classic.

Hi there I’m Golden Routes and today we will take a look at leveling up cooking. In this guide you will have access to routes for materials needed, the number of materials needed to level cooking up to 450, and even what you should be crafting to get that next skill point.

Cooking Trainers

You no longer need to learn Cooking from books, and you don’t have to complete the Artisan cooking quest. The trainers have finally done their reading and can teach you the same thing.

Make around 25-35 from any recipes in the table below. You don’t have to make the same recipe, you can make a few from each.

Make 25 from one of the recipes below.

Recipe: Undermine Clam Chowder is sold by Jabbey in Tanaris. (If you are in Tanaris, you should also visit Gikkix and buy every recipe from him.) Ice Cold Milk is sold by most Innkeepers or bartenders. It’s a limited supply recipe, so if someone bought it before you, you have to wait for it to respawn. I’m not sure about the exact respawn timer. (or buy it from the Auction House)

Recipe: Spotted Yellowtail is sold by Gikkix in Tanaris. You should also buy Recipe: Nightfin Soup and Recipe: Poached Sunscale Salmon from him because you might use it in the next step.

Recipe: Monster Omelet is sold by Himmik in Winterspring at Everlook. He is inside the inn. Or by Malygen (Alliance) / Bale (Horde) in Felwood.

Recipe: Tender Wolf Steak is sold by Dirge Quikcleave in Tanaris. (If you are in Tanaris, you should also visit Gikkix and buy every recipe from him.)

Recipe: Filet of Redgill is sold by Kelsey Yance at Booty Bay. (He is in the large building at the end of the ship dock in Booty Bay. Enter the building and make an immediate left.)

250 – 285

40x Juicy Bear Burger – 40x Bear Flank

The drop rate of Bear Flank is around 50%, Wowhead shows a lot lower drop rate.

The Recipe: Juicy Bear Burger is sold by Bale / Malygen in Felwood. You can also make Charred Bear Kabobs, the recipe is sold by the same NPCs.

285 – 300

15x Smoked Desert Dumplings – 15 Sandworm Meat

You have to complete two quests in Silithus to get this cooking recipe.

You can farm the needed 15x Sandworm Meat from Dredge Strikers and Dredge Crushers in Silithus.

Master Cooking (300-350)

Learn Master Cooking from one of these NPCs below.

  • Horde: Baxter in Hellfire Peninsula at Thrallmar. He’s in the inn standing behind the innkeeper.
  • Alliance: Gaston in Hellfire Peninsula at Honor Hold. He is located in the backroom of the Inn. /way 54.0 63.6

300 – 325

Make one of these:

30x Buzzard Bites – 30x Buzzard Meat

Recipe location:

Recipe: Ravager Dog is sold by Cookie One-Eye (Horde) and Sid Limbardi (Alliance) in Hellfire Peninsula.

You have to complete a quest chain for Recipe: Buzzard Bites. You can pick up the first quest from Legassi in Hellfire Penninsula. /way 49.2 74.8

You have 3 choices now.

23x Northern Stew – 23 Chilled Meat

The recipe is a reward for completing the Northern Cooking quest.

You can get the Northern Cooking quest from the Cooking trainers in Howling Fjord and Borean Tundra. (links above). You will need 4x Chilled Meat to complete the quest.

365 – 400

Getting the recipe for this part requires completing a few prerequisite quests in Sholazar Basin.

Go to Nesingwary Base Camp in Sholazar Basin and complete these quests:

  1. Venture Co. Misadventure
  2. Wipe That Grin Off His Face
  1. Need an Engine, Take an Engine
  2. Have a Part, Give a Part

Now you can do these two:

  1. Some Make Lemonade, Some Make Liquor
  2. Still At It
  3. The Taste Test

Go to the Dalaran Underbelly and talk to the Washed-Up Mage then complete the Fletcher’s Lost and Found quest to learn the Kungaloosh recipe.

50x Kungaloosh – 100 Tundra Berries, 50 Savory Snowplum

The recipe will be green for the last 13 points, so you probably have to make around 50.

Tundra Berries and Savory Snowplum are sold by most Innkeepers, so do not buy them from the Auction House! You can buy them from Applebough in Dalaran.

Alternative recipes

Making one Kungaloosh costs 66 silver, so if any meat/fish below are cheaper, then you should make around 45 from them instead.

Rhino Dogs, Worm Meat or Fangtooth Herring will probably be the cheapest, so you should check those first.

The Cooking trainers won’t teach you any more recipes, you have to buy the cooking recipes from Derek Odds (Alliance) or Misensi (Horde) for 3x Epicurean’s Award at Dalaran.

Epicurean’s Award

Epicurean’s Award is rewarded for completing the daily cooking quests. You will get 1x Epicurean’s Award a day.

You can get the daily quests from Katherine Lee (Alliance) or Awilo Lon’gomba (Horde) in Dalaran.

  • Only 1 quest can be completed each day.
  • Only 1 out of the 5 possible quests will be offered each day. This is random.
  • Requires Cooking 350.
  • Requires level 65.

Northern Spices

Every recipe from this point will require at least 1x Northern Spices.

You can get them from the daily cooking quests, buy them at the Auction House, or buy 10x Northern Spices for 1x Epicurean’s Award at the vendor near your cooking trainer at Dalaran.
